Outside The Box Thinking...

In the beginning ( no I was not there!); credit unions were created as cooperatives, which were to be owned and controlled by the members and managed in their best interests.

One member / one vote; a democratically elected Board; a common goal, a common purpose - the common good !
"We're all in this together..."

But today, some Boards and CEOs have become "more creative" in how they view their relationship with and their responsibilities to those member-owners.

Kind of an "outside the box" sorta view....

See the problem?

The members have become "outsiders"....
and there in lies our greatest challenge for the future!
A complete
box set!

Don't box yourself in,
don't box your members out!

Amen, Jim -- imagine if we got back to being a PEOPLE service movement instead of part of the FINANCIAL services industry . . .

CUNA, the gatekeepers of the "movement" have locked the gate and are telling smaller CUs, to eat cake. If they gave Pen Fed 2 free years, it is a disgrace.

You are wrong on one point Jason. CUNA did not tell smaller credit unions to eat cake. They told them to eat s---!

For the love of God, as a proud member of CUNA, I hope it is untrue that Pen Fed was given free membership (or even partial dues). My credit union pays full price (and we struggle to justify and pay both CUNA and our League dues each year), and then we get nickeled and dimed on everything else that the trade and our League has in its suite of products and services.

Free membership to one of the world's largest credit unions would be in very poor judgment.

Some one prove the free dues claim.
Maybe the same people that correctly say the OTR and NCUA should be more transparent can find out.

Blaine, you just need to ask Nussle.

Actually, CUNA members should ask Nussle if he gave free dues to Pen Fed.

Don't mind asking, but you always hope that a vibrant, engaged credit union press would serve in that role... more important than the announcement of a promotion to senior assistant, deputy administrative advisor vice president!

Ha! The trade press is a joke. They only stay afloat with CUNA's ad dollars... the CU press has no integrity nor ethics. No way they ask CUNA if they gave free dues to PenFed (or SECU).

Can verify no free dues to SECU... none asked, none offered!

Because you are honorable JB! If Nussle gave free dues to Pen Fed, me and other CUNA members will raise cane. NAFCU looks better and better each year.

Trade press? They only cover and question those who pay to play. They never ask the hard questions of anyone, The M & M twins or the two jokers running the trades. Just like the ones covering the election, bias, slanted and unreliable.

NAFCU looks better and better each year? Berger must have got up early this morning to write that one. What a choice, CUNA or NAFCU? And people have the nerve to complain about the two presidential candidates. Clean up your own house first you bunch of deplorables.
