Juris Prudence...

Bring it !!

Have a co-worker who has recently waded into a nights/weekend law school program.  She's a double left-handed perfectionist for whom no detail is too small to pursue.  Full-time complex job, full-time Mom with teenagers, caregiver to elder parents, and now law school - talk about a mid-life crisis!

The future lawyers were given the following message on their new profession by the Dean...

  • Stand with those who need your help.
  • Serve the underserved.
  • Have broad understanding and compassion for others.
  • Never doubt your power to advocate for others.
  • Always do the right thing.... even when it's not easy, even when it's not popular.
  • Stand up in the face of suffering.
  • Stand up in the face of degradation.
  • Commit yourself to change when it is needed.
  • Commit yourself to restoring hope.
  • There is a difference in the world and that difference is you.
Good rules to live by!

Certainly gives one great hope for the future of justice in this Country...

No more lawyer jokes I guess....

Is that sorta like the commitment to serve the under served ? And not for profit but rather for the good of the member? And directors who are not compensated except for things like the elaborate Christmas party where they eat, drink and get gifts? I guess I could go on and them say perhaps no more slams at CUNA next year. But that would be silly because there would then be nothing to say.
