Credit Unions understanding of choice has been severely distorted by forces they believed to be allies of theirs, over the years.

There is NO choice with CUNA. They have given their "new plan" to the league presidents. Their is NO choice. They are DIRECTING them to do several things. Demand that your league president show you the plan.

Trade association dues are voluntary contributions. If they are not a value to your members, than why do you keep paying them?

Who determines the value to the members? What is the ROI? Members may see no value. Could the members file a class action lawsuit against their credit union for: (1) Breach of fiduciary duty, (2) Negligence, (3) Corporate Waste? It does seem like a huge waste of money to support a trade association that has delivered less than nothing in return for the dues paid. However, it makes the CEO feel good to be a dues paying, card carrying member of an association that hands out pretty certificates in appreciation of the dues dollars contributed to the cause.
