Henny Penny...

Don't give up... Hang in there!

Crisis Leadership?
Realize that we keep running around like a chicken with its head cut off, but...

Really do understand that we need to get serious about this CUNA/Leagues/NAFCU question.  Time's a wastin' on developing a reasonable decision tree for comparing our options for finding the best trade association(s) to provide for advocacy, education, and compliance!

But before we do... been having some, shall we say, "terse" communications with several of the "Top 40" over the recent blog posts challenging their lack of transparency and lack of leadership in looking to the future of credit unions. There have been some "frank" conversations [with more to come!], as I've known many of the key league "leaders" for years - and think very highly of all of them personally [but not necessarily "systemically"!].

When talking to Henny Penny, Cocky Locky, Ducky Lucky, Goosey Loosey, Turkey Lurky, and Foxy Loxy about giving credit unions the democratic, basic cooperative right of CHOICE, their lock-step alarm is always the same...

" WE MUST STAY UNITED: IT'S THE SYSTEM®!"

Which is just pure Chicken " _____ " *

*  ☐Little? ☐Salad? ☐Hearted? ☐Soup? ☐House? ☐Out? ☐Wing? ☒"Other"!

BUT AS WE ALL KNOW:

FOWLS OF A FEATHER LIKE TO FLOCK
(TO THE FOUR SEAONS)
      TOGETHER.

(... most expect a"hen party"!)

So Chicken Little in DC gets together with Turkey Lurkey from the East, Goosey Loosey from the Southeast, Foxy Loxy from the West and Ducky Lucky from the Midwest. They sit in a circle at the Ritz and look at each other. Get it?

Jim, while I enjoy your pontification of the "system" and find all the comments interesting, the solution to our "choice" problem is simple: if CUNA or our league do not permit choice, don't send in your 2016 dues and renew. If we all withhold our dues as a group, they will be forced to change. When you reward bad behavior by sending in your money, they continue with their silliness.

One possible problem with the strategy is that if everyone withholds dues and that brings "the system" down then what's the next step?

Wouldn't it be more reasonable to give everyone a "choice", as they have requested, and build forward on a firm foundation of chosen support?

If you don't like your league, it appears you could just drop out and join either the Michigan/Fla. league and NAFCU.

If you don't like CUNA and don't need your league., same applies.... NAFCU is awaiting with open arms!

If the CUNA Board maintains the status quo, that's its prerogative, not sure it's fair to try and hold them hostage.

Think if CUNA/Leagues refuse to respect the wishes of their members then the "choices" are clear... "1) fish or 2) cut bait"... and in either event we can then all shut up!
