From The Field: Highly Qualified...

Had a job applicant recently who was fresh out of
the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Great grades, super personality, energetic self-starter, ready to dive in, eager to change the world.

The interview was moving right along until I asked if she had any "prior work experience"? She seemed stumped, looked embarrassed, and became flustered.

She's good at handling
all kinds of stuff...

Finally she blurted out that growing up on a farm in rural N.C., she had always worked full-time "helping my Daddy clean out his chicken houses".

At that point I simply closed the folder and said...

Prior "coop"erative
experience...

Welcome to the Credit Union!  I believe you have a very bright future here!

The chicken stuff in credit unions will make her feel like she is home!

She would have done well at NCUA also, except it wouldn't be chicken stuff she would be dealing with. It would be bull stuff. And tons of it.
