Flights of Fantasy...

Fully Qualified...!!

To believe that working at the
NCUA qualifies you to run a credit union, is like thinking you are an NFL star because you play Fantasy** Football.

** fantasy - adj., definition: "the faculty or activity of imagining things that are impossible or improbable."
Synonyms:  make-believe, charade, farce, mockery, fabrication. See also:  "RBC#1".

Jim, you say it with words; Dali says it with pictures. Both of you speak the truth.

Not necessarily true! The years that I spent at NCUA were invaluable and formed the base for a pretty successful 20 career as a credit union CEO. While many examiners may not have the intellectual curiosity to use their time as an Examiner to study what makes a credit unions successful, some do and become highly successful Credit Union CEOs. Most Examiner/CEOs leave NCUA because they can not tolerate a career as a mind numb robot.

I am not suggesting that any long term NCUA employee who has never had any career experience other than NCUA qualifies because they probably suffer from Regulatory Childless Adult Syndrome. It is similar to an adult who has never had a child giving advice to a parent on child raising. The rules are change with the first breath of the baby. A non combatants bromides never seem to work when you are the parent.

I did find with many of the former examiners who became CEOs had a pretty universal experience. They all found out things that they would not think appropriate as an examiner, looked like a good idea as a CEO.

In other words, the capable ones leave and the incredible ones stay?

There does seem to be a career path for those who never question the powers that be at NCUA. There is no reward given for creative thinking at NCUA! Non-adherence to the Gospel according to the current Chair has career ending consequences.

When a capable NCUA employee leaves to seek a more rewarding career path, it opens the door for a "I have been here longer, and have not rocked the boat" regulatory sycophant to advance!

Now all say, "Amen"!

NCUA leadership appears to be a firing squad formed in a circle, lots of ridiculous self-inflicted wounds.

A very public display of outright incompetence with RBC.
