POPE TELLS BANKERS TO FIND SOME ETHICS
(AFP - Rome 6/16/2014)
There are consequences... |
Pope Francis said, "It is increasingly intolerable that financial markets are shaping the destiny of peoples rather than serving their needs, or that the few derive immense wealth from financial speculation while the many are deeply burdened by the consequences."
Swine before pearls...? |
"It is important that ethics once again play its due part in the world of finance" and that markets should "serve the interests of peoples and the common good of humanity."
But credit unions, always a Ray of hope...
"... Heaven help the man who kicks the man who has to crawl..."
"Heaven help us all..."

Big Banks are following the lead of congress who is convinced the people serve their needs.
You get what you pay/vote/don't vote for.
As a Catholic, I truly love this Pope on spiritual matters. However, on financial matters he is as clueless like Elizabeth Warren.
Guess 3 Hail Mary and a couple of Our Fathers are now due?
Glass credit unions should not throw stones!
Not good to judge other people's ethics least your ethics be judged.
Maybe it is past time to throw some stones....
As you know, Pope Francis is also throwing quite a few stones internally, within Vatican City and the Church at large.
Stones only hurt when they hit the mark.....
Suggest that Pope Francis would advise that he who is without sin cast the first Stone!
My bad! That was a suggestion from a higher authority.
Maybe credit unions should practice what they preach.

Now it seems the Pope has expanded the b@*ks peer group to include the 'Ndrangheta (Southern Italy's version of the Sicilian mafia) who he characterizes as "adorers of evil"....
Even with our weaknesses, don't think CUs will ever "make the grade" in this elite "A of E" club...
Pretty bad when the Pope says "You suck"!
The continued massive fines and lawsuits against big banks, domestic and foreign, tells the story of a total lack of ethics pervasive in big bank leadership. Credit unions, and most community banks, need to remind the public and Congress constantly we are still driven by the good of our members. Any attempt to group credit unions with the large bank behaviors that caused the financial crisis and continue to be recognized by regulators with large fines and lawsuits is just an act of desperation by someone who can't stand the success of credit unions, and probably hates baseball.
If the Dodgers get any worse, we may have to call in the Pope...
Would not cheer about the fines being placed on banks by an out of control central government. Eventually, the banks will not be able to pay the extortion and the crooks in the government will find reason to steal from ethical credit unions.
Wonder what the Pope has to say about the Federal Reserve stealing from future unborn generations to prop up the current generation who will not living within their means?
In any room the person admitting to have the least amount of ethics is the one with the most!
No cheering here, but do think they should have the decency to stop...
