Lying Low.....

A-h-h-h! The season of serious politics is upon us in America.  Everybody on those debate stages just can't be telling the truth! There are way too many gaps in their stories!

Lying is so unattractive in other people. Most of us fully support the truth, especially when it's to our benefit. Some flexibility may be warranted at other times...

Of course, it's awfully easy to be self-righteous over the lapses in truth perpetrated by others.   A fellow human being caught "in flagrante delicto", dangling uncomfortably before the media, is much like a car wreck - an event sure to draw a curious crowd. We like to watch the wiggle, the contortions of denial laced with sweat.

Few circuses have ever presented a more
dramatic high wire act!   The real drama is in anticipation of how the confession will eventually "come out".  A lie can't escape the relentless, full-glare scrutiny of the truth for long.   Ever noticed that?   We all know that the "lying dawg" is basically just one forgotten loose-end away from public embarrassment and personal humiliation - assuming, of course, a conscience is present.

Lies are constantly eroded by the truth.   The
give and take, the cat and mouse, the thrust and parry between truth and fiction gradually take their toll.   While the truth can stand alone, a lie must be constantly defended and propped up.  The truth has great resiliency.
Lies require a lot of maintenance.   Like teenage acne, the truth keeps popping up, often at a most inauspicious moment.

Well, thank goodness that some of us at least are pure of heart. You of course and me... well mostly, with some exceptions, there have been times, but only when necessary, really it was for the best....

Uh, let's see where were we? Why don't we talk about something else....

George Washington never told a lie. At least that is what I am told. You knew him Jim. What do you think?

Wasn't on a first name basis with him, but don't believe he was a CU member and he reputedly was not fond of cherry trees.
